Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about 4WAVE deployments and technical specs.

Community

How do I get my setup featured in the Gallery?

Once you have your 4WAVE deployed, go to the Share page and upload a photo! We review and post new community photos weekly.

Deployment

How long does it take to deploy?

Most users report an 'on-air' time of under 5 minutes. No complex guy wires or telescoping segments to fight with.

Is the Hitch Mount safe to use while driving?

No. Our Hitch Mounts are for stationary use only (POTA, Tailgating, Camping). Using the antenna while in motion can cause structural damage due to wind load.

Can I use the 4WAVE for permanent HOA/Stealth use?

Absolutely. Our 'Stealth Mount' is low-profile, and the green or black wired masts blend into trees or siding, making it nearly invisible from the street.

General

How compact is the antenna when broken down?

The 4WAVE breaks down to under 4 feet, making it incredibly portable and easy to pack in a standard vehicle for POTA, WWFF, or field day deployments.

What is the power rating?

Our standard builds comfortably handle 100W SSB (typical barefoot radio output). If you plan on running high-duty cycle digital modes like FT8 for extended periods, let us know and we can discuss your specific needs.

Do you ship internationally?

Currently, we are focusing on US domestic shipping while we finalize our packaging weights and dimensions. We hope to open up international shipping in the future.

Ordering

Can I pick up my antenna at a Hamfest?

Yes! If you see us on the 'Upcoming Events' list, select 'Local Pickup' in the configuration form, and we will set your unit aside for the show.

Technical

Do I need an external tuner?

Yes. While our 4:1 and 9:1 UNUN options help provide a manageable match across multiple bands, a feedpoint or remote tuner is required. We have tested the LDG RT-RC100 remote tuner extensively with our antennas and highly recommend it.

Why do you offer different UNUN ratios (1:1, 4:1, 9:1)?

It depends on your setup! 1:1 is best for resonant wire lengths; 4:1 is a great all-arounder; 9:1 is ideal for 'Random Wire' deployments to help your tuner find a match on lower bands.

What is the actual power handling for digital modes?

Our standard builds are rated for 200W PEP (SSB/CW) and 50W for high-duty cycle digital modes like FT8 or RTTY. For higher power needs, contact us for a custom high-power build.
